Announced back in April, AMC is expanding the world of “The Walking Dead” with a second spinoff series, which is said to feature two young female protagonists and focus on the first generation to come-of-age in the apocalypse as we know it. A new update from Variety today brings us the first casting news, as three major roles have been filled.

Alexa Mansour (Unfriended: Dark Web, pictured above), Nicolas Cantu (“The Amazing World of Gumball”), and Hal Cumpston (Bitched) will all star in the brand new series.

Variety notes, “Sources describe Mansour’s character as a good-natured rule breaker who lives for today. She is likable and funny on the outside but sad on the inside.”

“Cantu’s character is said to be small for his age in addition to being friendly and an old soul. He also has a black belt in karate.”

“Cumpston’s character is said to be big for his age. He is a shy loner that scares some kids, but he hates the fact that he scares people.”

The 10-episode first season of the untitled series is expected to arrive in 2020.
